What to look for in support & bags

A good tripod is a balance of stability versus weight. Carbon-fibre legs are lighter and dampen vibration but cost more; aluminium is heavier and cheaper. Check the maximum load rating against your heaviest camera-and-lens combination, the folded length if you travel, and the head type — ball heads are fast and flexible, geared heads are precise for landscapes and architecture. For movement, a gimbal smooths out handheld motion a tripod cannot.

Bags are about access and protection. Backpacks carry big kits comfortably for travel and hikes; sling and shoulder bags trade capacity for fast, grab-and-go access during a shoot. Look for customisable dividers, weather protection, a laptop sleeve and genuinely comfortable straps — you will be wearing it all day.
